Senior Manager for Global Product Management (m/f)

 

The Global Product Management manager is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of products and to train and guide the sales teams as needed. This role is in a key position to formulate innovative product business development and sales strategies with our leadership team. The senior manager for Global Product Management will form productive and sustainable relationships with external and internal business partners (both suppliers and customers) to ensure the ongoing and focused development and success of our business expansion. Description Summary:

The Director, Project Development will lead a team of developers who identify, evaluate, negotiate and execute project acquisitions.  This role will be responsible of defining the strategy of within various markets and of executing it successfully.  Once the projects are ready to build this key individual will lead the local team in charge of selling the projects to end buyers, under the coordination of CSI Headquarters.

Responsibilities:

·         Analyze the different markets and propose a strategy to follow by conducting rapid initial screens of project acquisitions originated by others, and determine which projects to pursue.

·         Build a team of developers as projects start to come on board, to successfully implement the strategy decided.

·         Allocate resources, provide direction on evaluation methodology, and define 'Go, No-Go' decision-points in the deal process.

·         Originate opportunities and build a pipeline of profitable projects.

·         Work in conjunction with in-house team to prepare project memorandums to be submitted to Canadian Solar Projects Investment Evaluation Committee in order to get the internal approval for the investments in each particular project.

·         Negotiate with developers to acquire project rights, partnerships or any other alternative that generates projects value for Canadian Solar.

·         Negotiate contracts for projects acquisitions, EPC, O&M, and selling contracts to end buyers.

·         Coordinate the due diligence process to acquire project rights, financing projects, and sell them to end buyers.

·         Control and coordinate the team of professionals doing development or project activities and control the budget of the development activities and acquisitions.

·         Build partnerships and JV with developers, EPC companies or any company that could bring pipeline of projects.

·         Maintain good relationships with developers and other players within the targeted markets.

Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a Product Manager to join the Americas Module & Solutions Team, located in San Ramon, CA.  This position will make use of knowledge and skillsets of solar product experience to provide product management of Canadian Solar products and services.  Position will be a direct communication link with salesman, customers and headquarter personnel abroad to assist with needs and support as defined below:

 

Responsibilities:

·         Manage the existing US product portfolio and its life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, including creating, maintaining and updating product roadmaps.

   o   Main product focus: 3 phase string inverters, DC optimizers, PV connectors.  Related product: CSI solar panels, racking and general solar product knowledge

·         Research, analyze and draft market requirements for existing and new products by communicating with customers and sales teams, by reading other information sources and transferring and explaining these requirements to HQ. 

·         Act as an internal advocate for customer needs and requirements.

·         Be directly involved with new module developments by direct interaction and influence with other product leaders.

·         Follow codes and certifications as they develop; analyze their impact on the market and specific products; make recommendations to management on how to leverage these developments to CSI’s benefit.

·         Communicate and train customers and sales teams in regards of product details and specifications, product advantages, product applications and product benchmark compared to competitors.

·         Prepare content and materials for customer visits with sales managers to conduct product presentations, customer training sessions, webinars and customer events.

·         Understand product manufacturing processes, certification status and other product details.

·         Provide and validate content for marketing collateral material such as datasheets, technical brochures, white papers and others.

·         Work with the marketing team to launch and communicate new products and their features and measure the introduction and sales success of the existing and new products.

·         Ability to travel up to 35% of the time

·         Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

§  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business discipline is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.

Professional Qualifications:

§  Minimum 5+ years’ experience in product management, ideally in the energy sector or within the PV industry. PV Power Electronic, String Inverter technology, Module Level Power Electronic (MLPE). PV module technology experience is a plus.

§  Experience interacting with sales and business development teams and B2B sales channels, and working experience in direct sales to commercial and industry business is a plus.

§  Excellent technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn detailed information about the existing product portfolio and to communicate and answer technical and product related questions and topics.

§  Understanding and application of financial product calculation – product cost and product sales price definition, analysis and recommendation.

§  Convincingly and effectively communicate with customers, independent engineers, laboratories, industry working groups and regulatory authorities.

§  Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with others effectively, locally and also over multiple time zones and different cultures.

§  Ability / Willingness to travel (up to 35%).

§  Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills.

§  Articulate with strong writing and presentation skills in person and remotely via webinar tools.  In addition, this role will possess strong analytical and financial capabilities, be process oriented and attentive to detail.

Position Summary:

Position Summary:

  • Support CSI Energy Business’s objectives by collaborating with development, legal, technical and corporate finance groups with frequent communications among working groups located in the Americas, Europe and China.
  • Support initial project evaluation and investment modeling by working with external advisors, in close coordination with development team leaders, to provide up-to-date information concerning local tax, legal and regulatory matters impacting CSI’s investments.
  • Provide guidance to financial analysts on specifics of project agreements to ensure that financial models accurately reflect known transaction terms.
  • Maintain familiarity with financial models and provide guidance to financial analysts on required changes as deal evolves.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, or Economics; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have 10+ years of relevant experience in the field of project finance with an emphasis on independent power in the emerging markets and recent closing experience of renewable energy project financings in Latin America.
  • Proven track record of successful project finance closings, including experience with export credit agencies, multi-lateral organizations, development financial institutions, and international commercial lenders, from development stage through to final completion.
  • Strong interdisciplinary skills covering financing, tax, accounting, financial modeling, and contract analysis with ability to contribute to or guide project due diligence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to convey ideas and positions clearly.

KERNAUFGABEN:

  • Unterstützung der Office Managerin bei der Erledigung von täglich anfallenden Aufgaben an 4 Tagen die Woche (ca. 10-12h) wie:

    • Verteilung der Hauspost
    • Übernahme von Botengängen
    • Erledigung von Einkäufen (Bürobedarf, Snacks)
    • Verwaltung der Meeting-Räume
    • Tägliches Auffüllen/Verteilen des Obstkorbs in den Kaffee-Küchen
    • Gelegentliche (Urlaubs-)Vertretung am Empfang

 

ANFORDERUNGEN:

AUSBILDUNG/ERFAHRUNG
  • Idealerweise Erfahrung im Office Support oder am Empfang
KOMPETENZEN
  • Gepflegtes Auftreten
  • Freundliche, offene und hilfsbereite Persönlichkeit
SPRACHEN
  • Fließende Deutschkenntnisse
  • Gute Englischkenntnisse
