Cubierta Solar Onda, Spain

Canadian Solar Modules Power Sustainable Industrial Building, CUBIERTA SOLAR® Onda in Castellón, Spain.

Spanish retail and real estate company, GET has expanded its real estate portfolio with the introduction of sustainable industrial construction concept CUBIERTA SOLAR® Onda. The CUBIERTA SOLAR® Onda building in Castellón is the first sustainable industrial construction in the Valencian community and the rooftop system produces 3.85 MWp of clean energy. The fully-integrated, south-facing system uses Canadian Solar’s high efficiency MaxPower CS6X-M modules, a preferred option for utility-scale installations due to their large 72-cell format. Early performance results already show that the rooftop solar system produces 12% more energy compared to PVGIS simulations, and can offset CO2 emissions of up to 5000 tons per year.

CUBIERTA SOLAR® systems are complete and others are in development in the Alhama de Murcia and Almoradi regions, with total output nearing 5 MW. All use Canadian Solar’s MaxPower CS6X-M modules, and will bring GET’s total solar energy portfolio to 9 MW.
