Singing for solar

The Sapporo City Jazz festival is a popular annual event that takes place in Hokkaido, Japan every summer. It features local and international performers and this year Canadian Solar sponsored an exciting addition, the “Sapporo City Park Live Contest”.

“We first screened and selected the best 10 sets from the individuals and bands that entered so we could be sure of quality performances during the contest on July 21, 2014,” said Taegyu Son, Country Manager of Canadian Solar Japan. “The selected bands were then given 30 minutes each to perform in the competition, and the chance to introduce themselves and talk about their passion for their music,” he said.

The live event was attended by people of all ages and their enthusiast applause for the various performances indicated that they really enjoyed it. When the 6-hour contest ended, the US-Navy 7th Fleet Band entertained guests with an excellent performance while the judges made their final decision.

“The “KadomaYuya Quartet” won the day because the judges were particularly impressed by their authentic style. And they earned themselves an all expenses paid trip and the right to perform at the International Jazz Festival to be held in Canada or Luxembourg next year, all courtesy of Canadian Solar.

“We hope they play as well at the International Jazz festival as they did at this contest”.
