Canadian Solar and Sedgeley Energy Build a 100 kWp PV Rooftop System in Johannesburg

Canadian Solar modules were used to complete a grid-tied 100 kWp rooftop system at the Hatfield VW Bryanston, VW South Africa’s premier dealer group. The system was developed by Sedgeley Energy, a firm that specialises in designing, financing, and building roof-top solar energy plants throughout Southern Africa.

This 100 kWp rooftop system is comprised of 384 Canadian Solar CS6P-P 260 Watt modules, producing an annual output of over 160,000 kWh. The system forms part of their larger environmental impact reduction strategy at Hatfield VW Bryanston. The site has already switched to low-water car washing techniques, has upgraded all lighting to energy efficient fittings, has installed timers and occupancy sensors, and is now powering the remaining electrical load with solar power. The solar PV plant alone will save over 95 tons of CO2 emissions each year - making Hatfield VW Bryanston one of the most environmentally friendly vehicle dealerships in the region.
