ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FELIPE, BAJA, MEXICO, MAKES THE DIFFERENCE FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
When a Canadian Solar retiree told us about the work of the San Felipe Rotary in Baja, Mexico, the response was immediate. Due to the covid pandemic, this school year has been extremely difficult for San Filipe students. Sadly, only 20% of San Felipe students have access to computers and the internet. Some students have no choice but to attend online classes, and complete assignments, on their parent’s cell phones. This makes learning very difficult and stressful for both the students and their families. Sixteen current Canadian Solar employees gathered 60 old laptops. Rather than becoming e-waste, the laptops were reformatted for donation to the 3 high schools in San Felipe. They were distributed to deserving students whose academics will be enhanced by having the technology and safe access to the internet.
