International Convention Centre, Sydney
Canadian Solar supported the transformation of Darling Harbour into one of the world’s best places to live, meet and be entertained, with one of the Australia’s largest solar arrays within a central business district installed onto the roof of the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) to generate power for the venue. This Australian-first sustainability initiative and social venture at the ICC Sydney allows people to participate in funding renewable energy. Canadian Solar, along with CSA Services, provided services for the solar system construction across the three sites, offering featuring state-of-the-art products and innovative roof-top mounting structure. The system, activated in December 2016, with 2,004 Canadian Solar 260W solar modules, generates 545 MWh annually and creating enough green energy to offset approximately 457.8 tonnes of CO2 per year. “We are very proud to be delivering this Australian-first sustainability initiative at ICC Sydney. The social venture allows people to participate in funding renewable energy and is another way we can engage with the local community who have been very supportive of this important State Government project at Darling Harbour. The solar array will produce enough for approximately 5 per cent of the energy required for the facilities which is equivalent to powering more than 100 homes every year.” David Lovell, General Manager, Darling Harbour Live.
