Operations & Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Troubleshooting system control and electrical hardware issues.
  2. Generate maintenance reports relating system performance determining root cause and performance trends.
  3. Creating equipment specific maintenance procedures.
  4. Training contractors and sub-contractors on equipment maintenance and operating procedures.
  5. Assisting the Field Technicians in maintenance activities.
  6. Maintaining spare parts.
  7. Resolving technical issues as it relates to the system software.
  8. Maintain computer and control systems including software updates and system testing and system commissioning.
  9. Maintain computer networks including configuration and software management.
  10. PLC programming and relay software configurations changes.
  11. Strong focus on preventing equipment down time.
  12. Maintain documentation including drawings, OEM documentation, procedures, safety documentation, etc. as it relates to PV generation systems.
  13. Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct.
  14. Adhere to all health and safety rules and policies.
  15. Conduct other duties as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  1. 1- 2 years of work experience in a service environment, working with control systems that include PLC’s, communication systems, switch gear and power generation hardware.
  2. Software programming knowledge of control relays, SCADA systems, PLC, network hardware and security software.
  3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  4. Must have degree in Engineering Technology, or preferably a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  5. Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  7. Electrical background in PV generating systems or maintenance is an asset.
  8. Good written and verbal communication skills
  9. Ability to travel to various project sites throughout CA as required.
