Canadian Solar Supplies over 2 MW of Modules for a New Jersey Hospital.

St. Peter’s University Hospital of New Brunswick, New Jersey now hosts the largest solar installation of any hospital in the state. The combined 2.1 MW solar energy system is distributed across six different locations on the hospital’s campus. It includes two rooftop arrays, three parking lot solar canopies and a fourth solar system on the top deck of a multi-floor parking garage. In total, the installations are powered by 8,866 high performance Canadian Solar CS6P-P 240 W modules, and all systems were designed and built by Sun Farm Network. The installations offset carbon emissions equivalent to the sequestration of 8,625 trees per year.

Sun Farm Network is one of the largest photovoltaic project development companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. They chose Canadian Solar as the project module supplier due to the superior quality of its modules and Canadian Solar’s ability to quickly adapt to Sun Farm’s project needs. The project posed specific challenges around the management of multiple sites including ensuring parking lots remained open during construction, re-directing emergency patients to neighboring hospitals during the interconnect, and even rescheduling a five-story lift of Canadian Solar panels to avoid constricting traffic flow during a local Rutgers University football game.
